Makassar – Professor Dr. Ir. Dorothea Agnes Rampisela, a lecturer from the Soil Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), led a field-based learning activity titled “Organic Garbage Management Hasanuddin University Campus”, as part of the SUIJI (Six University Initiative Japan – Service Learning Program).

This collaborative activity brought together Japanese students participating in the SUIJI program and students from the Faculty of Agriculture at UNHAS. Together, they engaged in managing organic waste on the UNHAS campus using sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural approaches.

Prof. Dorothea emphasized that this initiative serves as a practical, collaborative learning experience that promotes environmental awareness and cross-cultural understanding. “Through this program, students gain hands-on experience in organic waste management and learn the importance of small contributions to environmental sustainability,” she stated.

The activity also reflects UNHAS’s ongoing commitment to promoting a sustainable campus while strengthening international collaboration in agriculture and environmental stewardship.
